Oak beams for a veranda

We do not sell the oak beams for a veranda loose by the metre, but as a complete frame made to measure: posts, wall plates, braces and purlins, cut, jointed with mortise and tenon and numbered. Everything fits first time and you do not have to cut a single joint. Posts are 15 x 15 or 18 x 18 cm.

Oak timber frame with traditional joinery at a customer's home

Why a complete frame

Loose oak beams have to be cut and jointed on site. A mortise and tenon in heavy oak takes tools and experience. With a made to measure frame every joint is done and every size matches the drawing.

Oak as structural timber

  • Density around 740 kg per m³: heavy and strong.
  • Durability class 2, not for ground contact. The posts stand on a pad.
  • Oak checks as it dries, which is normal.
  • Tannins: use stainless screws and fittings.
