TIPS FOR BUILDING A WOODEN BUILDING SHED

There are a number of questions that need to be answered before building a log shed. Perhaps the most important question is: what exactly will the rain shelter be used for? As mentioned, such a construction can be used in numerous ways. The type of use has a great influence on the size, choice of material and location of the shed.

At Hardwood Discount, we recommend building a multifunctional woodshed. So of course you can keep wood and other objects dry under the structure. But the shed can also serve perfectly as a roof on sunny and rainy days, so you can always enjoy your backyard.

HARDWOOD OR DOUGLAS SHEDS?

In advance it is also wise to consider the choice of wood. Douglas fir and tropical hardwoods are particularly popular for building a shed. Douglas fir is a European softwood and is relatively easy to work with. Douglas is a European softwood and is relatively easy to work with.

However, in terms of quality and durability it does not come close to hardwood. IPE hardwood, for example, will last for at least 25 years outdoors. This is in contrast to Douglas fir, which lasts for about 10 to 15 years. Does the Douglaswood touch the ground? Then the lifespan is greatly reduced. It is therefore strongly recommended to choose hardwood when ordering and building a shed.

Through the Calculator from Hardwood Discount, you can easily design a shed perfectly tailored to your needs. You can even choose to receive a construction kit, where all wooden parts are numbered. Then you can simply follow the next steps to assemble the shed.

STEP 1: MEASURING THE SURFACE

Start by measuring the ground surface where the woodshed will stand. With the help of string and stakes, you can indicate where all elements should be placed.

STEP 2: DIGGING HOLES FOR CONCRETE POSTS

Then start digging the holes for the concrete posts and poles. The holes must be level in relation to each other. Make sure the concrete posts stick out about 15 centimetres above the ground for a robust appearance.
