Step 0: Analyze the Wind Factor
A fence acts like a sail in the wind. Is your property located in an open field or a sheltered residential area? This determines the foundation required.
For a durable result, we recommend our robust hardwood posts (min. 6x6 cm), especially when combined with post-mix concrete in open areas. For gate posts, use our heavy-duty 14x14 cm posts. Always ensure 1/3 of the post length (approx. 1m) is anchored underground.

THE 4-STEP PLAN
Setting Out and Installing Posts
Start from a fixed point. Stretch a line just above the ground. Place posts every metre along the line and ensure 1/3 of the post is buried. For a complete garden transformation, consider matching this with our Ipe decking boards. Pro-tip: Spray water onto the sand after placing posts to help the ground settle and secure the posts.
Anchoring and Stability
If you ordered a gate, place the heavy-duty gate posts on either side of the opening.

Hidden Fastening, EPDM, and Click Connection
Our black clips disappear into the shadow gap of the Ipe slats, providing a 100% screw-free look. Use EPDM tape on the posts to build a high-privacy, sound-dampening fence.

Tip for the clips
The top slat has nothing above it. Fix it with half a clip, or screw at an angle through the groove into the post. That is the only place you pre-drill. How the clip works and where the extra clips go is explained under slatted fence fixings.

Do I need to pre-drill Ipe hardwood?
When using our mounting clips and self-drilling screws, pre-drilling into the posts is not required.
What is the expected timber waste?
