The slat width sets the look: 5 cm gives fine lines, 9 cm is calmer. For the double gate, put the width you want in the notes field in the basket. Prices follow the exchange rate, so the basket shows the exact amount.
How a teak wood gate is built
- Matt black coated steel frame, 3 cm thick, no diagonal brace
- Teak slats 2.1 cm thick and 2.10 m long, enough for both sides
- Black pins, hinges and a black cylinder lock
- Clips and screws for hidden fixing, with an even 5 mm gap
The gate is 1.00 m wide and you set the height by cutting the slats, up to 2.10 m. Teak weighs about 670 kg/m³ against about 1,050 kg/m³ for Ipe, so a teak gate is lighter on the hinges and posts.
Hanging a teak gate
Fix the frame to a wall or hang it on a post such as our 6 x 6 cm Azobé fence posts. A double gate needs at least 2.03 m between the posts and 3 to 5 cm clearance at the bottom so it swings freely.

Can I get a teak sample?
Yes. Request a free sample and choose the 5, 7 or 9 cm teak slats, so you can see and feel the teak before you order. Samples go out as soon as the teak arrives in November 2026.

Do I need teak fencing as well?
No, the gate also fits a wall opening. For fence and gate in the same timber, choose teak slatted fencing with the same slat width.
How do I look after a teak gate?
The same as the fence. Left alone, teak weathers to silver grey; oil keeps the golden brown colour. See teak fence care.
